Breastfeeding Tips For Working Women

Breastfeeding Tips– has always been considered as a dilemma for working women. It happens often like that, that they are told to nurse their babies on breast milk for a time period of four to six months. But here is where the issue arises now,

as most companies offer only three months of paid maternity leave for working women. And then for every woman, she has to deal with this in an individual way according to their own circumstances.

Since it is best suited for infants, therefore, breast milk is considered to be the best milk for them. It is responsible for determining the growth and development of an infant.

Breastfeeding Tips For Working Women

Breastfeeding Tips-For achieving optimal health breastfeed is very essential for at least 6 months for an infant. This is because it contains all the nutrients that are needed by an infant in the first 6 months of his life, like fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water.

It also contains bioactive factors that increase an infant’s immature immune system, it provides protection against infection and helps digestion and absorption of nutrients.

There is special milk called Colostrum which is secreted in the first 2-3 days after delivery. This special milk is rich in white cells and antibodies, especially sIgA, and it contains a larger percentage of protein, minerals.

Breastfeeding Tips From Dr. Meenakshi Sauhta

Dr. Meenakshi Sauhta, Obstetrics and Gynecology department’s director at Cloudnine Hospitals in Gurgaon gives some valuable advice to working women who also breastfeed.

She says that a women’s ability to breastfeed is reduced significantly when she returns to work and if she is unable to get breaks for breastfeeding and pregnancy does alter the shape

but does not cause any other changes. Although women who breastfeed are known to show a reduced risk of breast cancer.

Breastfeeding  Myths And Thinking Of People

According to her women need to be educated about the harmful effects of pre-lacteal feeds and discourage them from feeding their infants with pre-lacteal feeds.

{"ff":"arial,roboto,sans-serif","size":12}”>People in the family have to be involved in order to support the woman to be able to feed the baby optimally.

Dr. Sauhta strongly feels that workplaces need to stop penalizing nursing moms at work if they want to provide food for their babies. She advises women who are breastfeeding to

  • To label the expressed breast milk before putting it in the fridge

  • if she is using the milk within 5 days of expressing it, she should be storing it in the fridge rather than in the freezer

She gives useful insights as to how employers can help nursing moms

A break needs to be given to mothers to express milk

Clean, warm, private rooms need to arrange

There should be a secure, clean fridge for storing expressed milk

There should be flexible working hours for breastfeeding mothers

Dr. Meenakshi Sauhta has a worked as a director and head at Max Hospitals in Gurgaon in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Also, she worked as the Senior Consultant Gynecologist in Gurgaon at Paras Hospitals. Currently at KRSNA Clinic at D-101, Supermart II, in DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon she is the managing director. With a working experience of near around 27 years,

she has a specialty in high risked obstetrics patients, in gynecological surgical procedures which are very complex and endoscopic gynecological surgeries. Dr. Meenakshi Sauhta has had outstanding outcomes and has delivered successful results in all these

. She concludes that it is a mother’s decision for deciding if she wants to breastfeed. Returning to work does not mean that she will have to stop.

But ideally,y before having to return back to work, a woman should be giving her employer a written notification that she is breastfeeding.
